LMAO, indeed.whats he trying do, build an AMC?
Honestly, i'm not sure what engine he's putting in. And yes, it certainly used to be more common to see a Chevy powertrain stuffed into a vintage Ford truck. What engine? Usually it's the other way around.
As much as i'm a Chevy guy, if i were gonna do up a 50's ford truck into a street rod, i would without hesitation do a Windsor/C6 powertrain build for it. Today's aftermarket puts the Windsor block absolutely on par with the small block Chevy, and there are tranny guys that make the C6 bulletproof for the street at up to 750HP.

Here's a bit of irony for ya. I went through a phase where i had a strong Jeep fetish. One of my adventures was restoring a Levis equipped CJ-7. That thing had a factory Torqueflite 727 feeding a quadratrac transfer case. Absolutely bulletproof powertrain.
The downfall is that the 727 is a giant pig and requires 63HP to operate. Now, picture the most smog control neutered version of the 258 cu in inline 6 ever made @ 108bhp, plus factory AC, plus factory hardtop, plus 33 inch tires! I could gain 4-5mph in grade climbing speed by running the fan/alternator belt loose.

He's "one of those guys" with an old toilet as a planter in his front yard, if that tells ya anything.

it's all in the shimming. properly shimmed you should be able to turn the rotating stock with your hand. and there should be almost zero end play on everything between the tail stock and input shaft. my first 340 dart sport had a fresh 727 and i could go 15 miles to a beach, and back on 2 gallons (it was 1$ a gallon and we had to have money for beer too). that included dusting a couple punks off on the way there and back.![]()
